Yakisoba / 焼きそば
Japanese stir fried noodles in a sweet and savory sauce. One of Japan's most popular street foods!

- 1/2 onion
- 1 carrot
- 3 shiitake mushrooms
- 3 green onions chopped
- 5 cabbage leaves
- 1 lb thinly sliced pork or beef
- 1 package yakisoba noodles
- 4-6 tbsp yakisoba sauce either packaged or using the following recipe
Homemade Yakisoba Sauce
- 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 4 tsp oyster sauce
- 4 tsp ketchup
Slice the onion, carrot, and mushrooms into very thin slices. Cut the cabbage into bite-sized pieces and cut the meat into 1 inch pieces.
In a wok or frying pan, heat oil on medium-high heat and cook the meat until almost cooked through.
Add the onion and carrot and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add the cabbage and mushroom and cook until slightly tender.
Separate the yakisoba noodles and add them to the wok. Lower the heat to medium and mix ingredients with the noodles well.
Add yakisoba sauce (either from a premade sauce or combine the sauce ingredients together) and mix well. If you prefer a stronger flavor, you can add more sauce.
Garnish and serve with chopped green onions.
